We have been evaluating content management systems for four years. Most of the available systems - the really good ones - were nearly ten thousand dollars per site (We bought one for $13,000 in 2005). Late last year, we discovered an organization called Joomla, who had spent years developing an open source (available to the public) software content management system that was powerful, simple, and economical to use.
We have spent the past seven months learning it, using it for our own sites, applying it to our consumer sites and gaining a deep appreciation for its power, simplicity and user-friendliness. We now use it for every site that we build. It was used for this site.
