Typography, text and graphics for the Web is important to understand, because it's considerably different from print media. Some things to consider:
Sans Serif Type easier to read
This is the opposite of print, where serif type is more readable. For this site, we are using sans-serif type all the way. We try to make the type size as large as possible to make it easier to read.
Short Lines
We like to keep the lines short, by using column width that doesn't cause the type to stretch all the way off the page. Short lines have been proven easier to read.
Short Sentences
We try to keep the sentences under 100 characters, again for better readability.
Short words easier to read
We strive to keep the words simple, under five syllables.
Graphics
Smaller photos, frequent use of thumbnails. Limited colors. Don't make the reader's eye work too hard.
